After crossing the Central Cairngorm Plateau we will set up a two night base camp in the stunning and secretive area of Loch Etchachan where you will have the option of summiting a number of nearby Munros, including Beinn Mheadhion with its granite tors, Derry Cairngorm with its awesome views, and Ben Macdui, the second highest Mountain in Britain. Alternatively, you can stay closer to Loch A’an and leisurely explore the Shelter Stone area with its awe inspiring cliffs, beaches and atmospheric waterfalls. A little more effort will take you to the famous Fords of A’an. You can make your time in this unique area as strenuous or relaxing as you want. Our walk out could be up the rarely used eastern flank of Cairngorm, through Ciste Mhearad, and undoubtedly the best way to summit Cairngorm whilst avoiding the crowds.
